Consumption of Fish and Whole Grains May Prevent Asthma
Here’s a more direct reason why we should encourage healthy eating in children, particularly a diet rich in fish and whole grains. Fish and whole grains may protect against asthma.
After adjusting the results for possible confounding factors, [snip] Tabak reports that high intakes of whole grains and fish were associated with a 54 and 66 per cent reduction in the probability of being asthmatic, respectively. The probability of having asthma with bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR), defined as having an increased sensitivity to factors that cause narrowing of the airways, was reduced by 72 and 88 per cent when children had a high-intake of whole grains and fish, respectively.
Interestingly, the same study showed that the intake of fruits, vegetables, and dairy products were not associated with asthma, which contradicted previous studies linking antioxidant intake, particularly vitamins C and E, to the incidence of asthma.

One experienced doctor says that he can get rid of most asthma simply by persuading the patient to change to a healthy diet.
However, you should also check out Buteyko’s findings that make a free and complete cure for asthma possible with no costly organic foods to buy.
Don’t get me wrong - you should still use organic foods just for the sake of your general health.

Food intolerance may also play a part in asthma.
Oily fish such as salmon, tuna, herring and mackerel which are high in the essential fatty acids Omega-3, may also be benifical to asthma suffers.
