Plasma total cholesterol levels dropped on average 4.2 per cent and increased by 1.9 per cent among the control group, making a 6.1 per […]

I’ve blogged about how CocoaVia snack bars may lower cholesterol levels. Well, a new study indicates that apart from this, eating two CocoaVia dark chocolate bars a day also lowers systolic blood pressure.
The study, funded in part by Mars Inc., the company that makes the bars, was published in this month’s Journal of Nutrition.

I discovered the joy of eating artichokes just a few years ago. I like it best simply boiled whole, and each shell peeled off and dipped in garlicky creme fraiche. Yeah, I know, not exactly the healthiest dip, but as I ony seldom have it, I allow myself such rare indulgences.

The berry group consumed 100 grams of whole bilberries and 50 grams of a […]

Without wanting to encourage you to pig out on fat-laden foods, I just wanted to share a report I’ve come across with, indicating that cholesterol isn’t all the villain it’s casted to be. Having low cholesterol levels may be good for your heart, but researchers have discovered that lower cholesterol levels can actually reduce muscle […]

A review of data from studies conducted in the last 15 years strengthens the evidence that oatmeal consumption indeed lowers total cholesterol levels. This, 10 years after the FDA initially approved the health claim’s appearance on food labels in 1997.
In addition, recent studies also discovered more health benefits beyond just total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol […]
