When Alternative Medicine Fail
I did a bit of bloghopping today, following the discussion and exchanges resulting from article written Robert Bazell on NBC News, “Ignoring the failures of alternative medicine“. From the Lab Cat, I arrived at the Science Blogs’ Terra Sigillata, which then pointed me to Aetiology.
All these in response to the recent report that “anti-aging” dietary supplement DHEA actually doesn’t work.
Where do we go from here? Should DHEA be allowed to persist in the market? What of other dietary supplements whose healing powers have been proven non-existent? How do all these affect functional foods and the practice and industry of “alternative” medicine?
When you check out these blogs, make sure you have time. The discussion ensuing, particularly following Tara’s entry, is much longer and is as informative and interesting as the blog entries themselves.
